Newstory: New Windows in Blackwell! - 2013 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines June 2015 *********************************************************************** The Observer/Enterprise, Coke County, TX - July 5, 2013 After months in the making, Whitworth Stained Glass was in Blackwell last week to install the new windows in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church. Whitworth Stained Glass is one of less than 85 studios in the United States to be accepted as a full-service accredited member of the Stained Glass Association of America. Many area residents are probably familiar with Jack Whitworth's craftsmanship. He and his wife, Cindy, have designed windows for several churches in the area, including First United Methodist of Bronte and Pecan Baptist Church in west Coke County. In addition to the windows, members have made renovations to the Fellowship Hall and the Prayer Room. In thanksgiving, a huge dedication and celebration is planned for later in the fall. First United Methodist of Blackwell has been in existence for over 100 years, serving as a place of worship and a gathering place for the community. *************************** Permission granted by The Observer/Enterprise for publication in the Coke County TXGenWeb and/or the Coke County Archives of the USGenWeb.
