T. SANDERSON HAS 90TH BIRTHDAY J. T. SANDERSON was honored on his 90th birthday Sunday with an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Sanderson home in Blackwell. The home was decorated with pink and white gladioli. The birthday cake was decorated in pink and white with a "Happy 90th Birthday" in letters. Family members attending included his wife, his son and daughter- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. SANDERSON, and his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. R. V. COPELAND. Five of his seven grandchildren present for the occasion were Mrs. JARVIS BULLARD, Snyder; Mrs. ERNESTINE HARRIS, San Angelo; Mrs. JACK BLANCHARD, Sweetwater; MRS. P. G. ANDERSON, Midland, and their families and BOBBY SANDERSON, Blackwell. TOM V. COPELAND, Levelland, and Mrs. BILL HIPP, College Station, were unable to attend. Ten of his 14 great grandchildren were also present. They were JONILA, BOBBY D. and GARY HARRIS, San Angelo; BRENT and JANA BLANCHARD, Sweetwater; DAVID, ALLEN and AMY ANDERSON, Midland and JARVINELL BULLARD, Snyder. The great grandchildren presided at the serving table where punch and cake were served. Mr. SANDERSON was born Sept. 19 at Athens, ALA. He was married to the former LAURA YOUREE in 1900 and they moved to Wingate from Itasca in 1904. In 1907 they moved to Fort Chadbourne and made their home there until they moved to Blackwell in 1910. Mrs. Sanderson died in April 1937 and in 1942 Mr. SANDERSON was married to Mrs. ED PATTERSON. In September of 1959 Mr. SANDERSON had worked 60 years in the blacksmith trade. His eyesight began failing about the time he retired in 1960. Except for his eyesight his general health is good. About 75 persons were present for the birthday celebration with out of town guests including Mr. and Mrs. M. RUSSELL, Mr. and Mrs. A. N. RAWLING and Mr. and Mrs. L. T. YOUNGBLOOD, Bronte, and Miss EFFIE COPELAND, Colorado City. A large number of Blackwell friends were present.
