News Story: Bronte Canning Center to Open Soon at Bronte School - 1944 Contributed by Brenda Scott Hines June 2011 ************************************************************************** The Bronte Enterprise, Texas, Friday, February 25, 1944 Bronte Canning Center to Open Soon at Bronte School A course in the production and processing of foods will be started at the Bronte High School by Mrs. F. F. Kirk, Home Economics teacher, in the very near future, with all ladies interested invited to attend, stated H. B. Edmondson, Vocational Agriculture teacher. There will be no charges connected with the course. This course is intended to help women with canning problems and to provide a place and the equipment to do the canning. The course will start in the spring and continue through the summer, which will include instruction in planting, producing, and processing foods. During the summer months the canning center will be open at the High School to any member of the course. Ladies interested in taking the course are invited to contact Mrs. Kirk or H. B.
