JIGGS favorite dish is corn beef and cabbage - our'n is back bone and spare ribs, fresh from the hog. Take forenstance, the spare ribs, lay 'em across a log, take an ax, chop'em about 4 inches long, cut 2 ribs off at a time, each one about thick as a _____'s foot. Fry it kind'o brown, streak of lean, streak of fat. Catch that aroma, your mouth begins to water, and your stomach goes into a fit of anticipation. Fit for the gods. Let the gravy run down your chin, half sole it with some yellow cornpone with cracklings, touched up with a couple of Coke County eggs. Doggone it, boy, it'll made an old man young. Well, that's the kind of mess we had for supper Saturday night after our friend FERN HAVINS killed hogs. He ground up about 300 pounds of sausage, beating the stuffin' out of old man depression, far as eats is concerned. Then there's that backbone and potlicker for dinner Sunday, smothered in onions and boiled tender-like-gosh we just set there and ate until we had to make the second trial to get up. Thanks, boy, for the real feast. Mr. and Mrs. I. C. RAY, ROLLA and BERT PAGE visited their sister, Mrs. CECIL SPARKS, in Tennyson one day last week. Brother GEORGE TUBB of Silver tied the official knot last Saturday that made ZERALD PHILLIPS and Miss EFFIE HAMILTON, both of Silver, man and wife.
