VERNELL BURNS THOMPSON
Funeral for Vernell Burns Thompson, 75, of Tyler, formerly of Sacul, was
at 1 p.m. Saturday at the New Faith Church of Sacul with the Rev. Ausbie
Earl, the Rev. Earnest Dixon and Bishop G. Land Jr. officiating. Burial
was in Sunset Memorial Park at Nacogdoches.
Mrs. Thompson died March 4. She was born Dec. 25, 1932, in Sacul. She was educated in Nacogdoches County and lived in Tyler for several years. She was a member of St. Land Temple Church of Deliverance in Tyler.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Frank Albert Thompson and her parents, Lottie D. and Naomi Burns.
Survivors are six sons, Hollis Mallard and Johnny Thompson, both of Sacul, Frank Thompson, Henry Thompson, John Albert Thompson and Lyndon Thompson, all of Nacogdoches; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Cecelia Mc- Gurie of Dallas, Patricia and Jethro Norris of Nacogdoches, Doris Deckard of Rusk, Pamela Ward of Houston and Verline and Rev. Danny Hampton of Tyler; 31 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Johnny Thompson, Frank Thompson, Lyndon Thompson, Henry Thompson, John Thompson and Hollis Mallard.
Grandsons were honorary pallbearers.
Williams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Thompson died Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Birmingham Health Care center in Rusk. She was born Dec. 25, 1932 in Sacul. She received her education in Nacogdoches County. She was a member of St. Land Temple Church of Deliverance in Tyler. She is preceded in death by husband, Frank Thompson; and parents, Lottie D. and Naomi Burns. Survivors include her sons, Hollis Mallard and Johnny Thompson of Sacul, and Frank, Henry, John Albert and Lyndon Thompson, all of Nacogdoches; daughters and sons-in-law, Cecelia McGurie, of Dallas, Patricia and Jethro Norris of Nacogdoches, Doris Deckard, of Rusk, Pamela Ward, of Houston, and Verline and Danny Hampton of Tyler; 31 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
