VIRGINIA LORENE RICHARDS ENER

Virginia Lorene Richards Ener died Feb. 25 in Alto. She was born in Cushing June 6, 1913, to Oliver L. and Carrie Richards. The funeral was at 10 a.m. Feb. 28 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Burial was in Restlawn Memorial Park, Vidor. Mrs. Ener graduated as valedictorian of her high school class at Cushing. She received a bachelor of science degree in 1939 from Stephen F. Austin Teachers College and a masters of education in 1959 from the University of Houston. She taught business and English classes in Alto, Tarkington Prairie and Vidor.

She was an artist and painted many baptistry scenes for churches in East Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, an honorary teacher's society, retired Teachers Association and TSTA. She was preceded in death by her husband Bency Nay Ener; parents; four sisters and two brothers. Survivors are her sisters-in-law, Era Lee Richards and Helen Richards; and several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
