Funeral services for Mrs. Jewel Myrtle Russell, 85,
of Bullard, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, in the Elliott
Memorial Chapel of Boren-Conner Funeral Home in Bullard, with the Rev.
Von Dawson officiating. Burial was in the Cates Family Cemetery in
Bullard. Mrs. Russell died Thursday, April 8, in a Tyler hospital after
a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 1, 1907 in Lamar County. Mrs.
Russell was a Methodist and a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Cates in 1988 and her
husband, Charles G. Russell in 1991. Survivors include stepsons and
daughters-in-law, Charles and Faye Russell of Prescott, Ariz., Dick and
Barbara Russell of Globe, Ariz., and Shirley Cates of Bullard; a
brother, L. B. Payne Jr. of Vine Grove, Ky.; 16 grandchildren, 25
great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers
included Floyd Bain, Alfred McDaniel, Larry Ellis, Harold Music, Rocky
McMakin and Ron Loper.
Honorary pallbearers included Mark Lockard, Ernie Lawson and Chris Hobbs
