Robert Alexander Huttash
Robert Alexander Huttash died suddenly on Monday at his home in Austin, Texas. He was born in Jacksonville on Sept. 4, 1941, to Robert Albert Huttash, former mayor and city councilman of Jacksonville, and Bonnie Bateman Huttash, both now deceased. Robert graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1959 and from Baylor University in 1962, majoring in English and Political Science. He graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1965 and was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Texas that same year. He was also admitted to practice before the U. S. Supreme Court and many other Texas and Federal courts. Prior to his retirement in l996, he was Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Robert served as an Assistant District Attorney of Travis County, Assistant State Prosecuting Attorney, and as Administrative Assistant to the Court of Criminal Appeals. From 1979 to May 31, 1996, he served as State Prosecuting Attorney before the Court of Criminal Appeals. Over the years he served on many committees which drafted changes to the Code of Criminal Procedure, Rules of Evidence, and other statutes. Robert is survived by his only brother, Phillip Edwin Huttash of Jacksonville; two daughters, Hallie Anna Huttash of Austin and Tiffany Martin and her son Genis Gifford of California; and one son, Christopher Hosack and his son Christian of Austin. He is also survived by his former wife Hallie Lewis Roberts of Corpus Christi and his good friends Mack Talkington and Alfred Walker, both of Dallas and Judge Carl E. F. Dally, Judge John F. Onion, Jr., and Jeff VanHorn, all of Austin. Robert was a brilliant, kind, and decent person, and his friends and family loved him very much.
