MINNIE (OLA BEA) MURPHY
 

Funeral for Minnie (Ola Bea) Murphy, 89, of Jacksonville was at 10 a.m. Saturday in Wallace- Thompson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Don Copeland, the Rev. Harold Davis, the Rev. Calvin Gould and the Rev. Bernie Hutson officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery.

Mrs. Murphy died Nov. 21. She was born Sept. 20, 1918, in Sardis to James and Vivian Inez Phifer Bowman. She was a resident of Jacksonville since 1989 and was formerly of Rusk. She was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church. She retired from Scott's Manufacturing in Rusk after many years of service. She was a gardener and seamstress.

Preceding her in death were her husband, R. L. Murphy in 2001; two brothers, C.A. (Fish) Bowman and James Donald (Luke) Bowman; and a sister, Mable Pearson.

Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, James and Tommie Murphy of Jacksonville; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Inez and Max McKnight of Jacksonville, Marcia Culver of Longview and Julia and Billy Davis Jr. of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews including special nieces and nephews whom she considered as her own children including Juanita, Freddy, Linda, Mildred Jo, Wanda and Johnny.

Pallbearers were Ricky Murphy, Tracey Hendrix, Timothy Hutson, Brandon Hutson, Micheal Hutson, P.J. Davis, Jeremy Davis and Mark Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were the Rev. Bernie Hutson, Stephen Hutson and Matt Wilson.
