JIMMY F. STRAWTHER

Funeral for Jimmy F. Strawther, 73, of Rusk was at 2 p.m., Saturday in Wallace Thompson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Don Copeland officiating. Burial was in Lowes Chapel. Mr. Strawther died Nov. 20 and was born Jan. 3, 1934, in Buena to Ebern Mitchell and Martha Ann Gill Strawther. He had lived in Rusk since 1978. He formerly resided in Dallas and Louisiana. He was a private in the U.S. Army during the Korean war. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. Preceding him in death were his wife, Betty Strawther in 2005; brother, Robert W. Strawther; and sister, Billie Joyce Beasley. Survivors are two sons, Jimmy L. Strawther of Rantoul, Ill. and Willie J. "Skeeter" Strawther of Rusk; a daughter, Paula S. McWilliams of Shreveport, La.; a sister, Johnnie M. Kemp of Beaumont; five grandchildren, 21 nieces and nephews, and 26 grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Pallbearers were Greg Westfall, Steve Rainwater, A.J. Strawther, H.O. Windell, Burt Hathaway and Daniel Duran.
