CONNIE MAE HICKS DEARMAN

Funeral for Connie Mae Hicks Dearman, 71, of Rusk, was at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church with Pastor Mertis Bartley officiating. Burial was in Rusk Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Mercy/McGowan Funeral Home.

Mrs. Dearman died June 9. She was born May 13, 1936, in Rusk to the late Joe and Lula B. Hicks, and was a lifelong resident. She attended G.W. Bradford School, worked in food services and was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Dearman; son, Alonzo; and sister, Lola Upton. Survivors include four sons, Larry Dearman, Charles Dearman, Eddie Dearman and Wesley Dearman, all of Rusk; a daughter, Maria A. Moore of Rusk; two brothers, Joe Hicks and Alonzo Hicks, both of Rusk; 10 grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren.

Pallbearers were Anthony Hunter, Bernard Cook, George Kincade Jr., Lonnie Ray Gibson, Aubry Criner and Garrin Session. Honorary pallbearers were Floyd Johnson, Samuel O'Neal, Steve Herrington, Jonah Branham, Michael Overstreet and William A. Watson.
