Funeral services
for Mrs. Mary Alice Samples, 88, of Jacksonville, will be held at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, May 9 in Renfro Memorial Chapel at Boren- Conner Funeral Homes.
Brother Dan Middleton and Brother Ken McEachern will be officiating. Burial will
be in Bullard Cemetery.
Mrs. Samples died May 6, Sunday evening at Jacksonville Nursing Home. She was
born July 24, 1918 in Gresham. She was a life-long Cherokee County resident and
a faithful member of Beall’s Chapel Church where she was the nursery keeper.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Roy Samples, three sisters,
one brother and 2 grandchildren.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Charles and Marjorie Samples of Mount
Selman; her daughter and son-in-law Naomi and Tommy Redford of Jacksonville; one
sister, Margaret Martin of Mount Selman; two granddaughters and one
grandson-in-law, Tammy and Donald Thurman of Jacksonville and Holly Johnson of
Jacksonville; four great grandsons, Justin Thurman, Zachary Thurman, Shawn and
Casey Johnson, all of Jacksonville; and one great granddaughter, Andrea Thurman
of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include Mickey Burns, Chris Lovelady, Billy Lee Lovelady, Dan Gattis,
Jim Buckley and Justin Thurman.
Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
