EVELYN POPE NORROD

Funeral for Evelyn Pope Norrod, 82, of Lufkin was at 10 a.m. Monday at Carroway- Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Charles M. Roberts officiating. Graveside service was at 1 p.m. at Providence Cemetery.

Mrs. Norrod was born May 23, 1925, at Pierce's Chapel to Delia Stanley and Preston Claiborne, and died Friday, May 16. A former resident of Jacksonville and Rusk, Mrs. Norrod resided in Lufkin since 1953. She was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church. Preceding her in death were her husband, L.W. (Dub) Pope; sisters, Voleta Florence and Bonnie Domino; and brother, Jack Bolton.

Survivors include her husband, Robert (Rej) Norrod of Lufkin; son and daughter-inlaw, Mark and Debbie Pope of Lufkin; stepsons and daughters in-law, Earl and Kathy Norrod and Ben and Dixie Norrod, all of Lufkin; grandsons and wives, Greg and Amber Pope of Leander and Ryan and Angela Pope of Rosevine; step-granddaughter, Dr. Holly Norrod of Charlotte, N.C.; step-grandsons, Arlie Conner of Lufkin and Jason Conner of San Antonio; great granddaughter, Kylie Pope of Leander; great-grandson, Cade Pope of Rosevine; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joy and Tex Allison of Huntington and Janell and Jerry Seton of Jacksonville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Derwin and Sandra Bolton of Jacksonville and Cecil and Flodean Bolton of Pasadena; step-sisters and brothers-in-law, Madeline Mines, Bonnie and Nolan Slider, all of Pierce's Chapel, and Nelda and Spencer Gray of Athens; and step-brothers and sisters-in-law, Waymon and Dianna Claiborne, Clennon and Doris Claiborne, all of Pierce's Chapel, and Gerald and Daphine Claiborne of Nixon.

Pallbearers were George Taylor, Dick McKay, Russell Cummings, George Rowe, Vernon Horton, David Hanover, Jim Wright and Don Smith.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Charles Lewis, Steve Reynolds, Charlie McLain, Pete Lane, Tex Allison and Brother G.W. Glidden.
