Funeral services for Marie Mayo, 86, of Rusk are scheduled for 3 p.m., Monday, April 28, 2008 in Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Copeland and Rev. G.A. Stanfield officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk. Mrs. Mayo died April 25, 2008 in a Jacksonville Hospital. She was born Sept. 21, 1921 in Trinidad, to the late William Jarrett and Minnie Stevens Stanfield. She was a resident of Rusk for 50 years formerly of Trinidad. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rusk. She retired in 1994 after 14 years of service with Rusk ISD. Mrs. Mayo was a child care provider for 30 years and loved to cook. Some of her hobbies included arts and crafts. She was preceded in death by her husband Aubrey Mayo in 1997; two sisters, Odessa Ward and Leona Jackson; and a brother, Luther Stanfield. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Judy Mayo of Henderson, Jerry Don and Teresia Mayo of Chapel Hill; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Roy Griffin of Streetman; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, April 27, 2008 at the funeral home.
