William George Kendrick

 William George Kendrick, 82, a resident of Kerrville, since 1994 and a prior resident of San Antonio, died peacefully at his home on April 8. He was born in Kansas City, Mo. to George William Kendrick and Bertha Herter Kendrick. On June 4, 1966, he married Ruthie DuBose in Amarillo and embraced her two daughters as his own. Bill served in the United States Navy in World War II. He was a graduate of Highland Park High School in Dallas and the University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi. He was a lifelong active member of the United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and Past President of Riverhill Country Club. He loved the great outdoors, fly fishing in the mountains and hunting in Texas. He was in the forest products business for over 47 years. Survivors include his wife, Ruthie DuBose Kendrick; daughters Betsy Chamberlain and husband Don of Houston and Kathryn Bowen and husband Steve of Jacksonville; a sister, Marylou McBroom and husband Bob of Wichita Falls; a brother, John Kendrick and wife Gail of Garland; six grandchildren and their spouses, Douglas and Mary Chamberlain of Houston, William Patrick and Sabrina Chamberlain of Corte Madeira, California, Thomas Chamberlain of Houston, Meg Chamberlain of Boulder, Colorado, Betsy Jenkins and husband Michael of Beaumont, and Neal Meyer and husband Dan of Austin; two great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Wright Chamberlain of Houston and Hannah Grace Chamberlain of Corte Madeira, California; one great-grandson, William Benjamin Chamberlain of Corte Madeira, California. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 11 at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Kerrville, officiated by Dr. Warren Hornung.
