May Belle Franklin
Services for May Belle Franklin, 88, of Jacksonville were at 11 a.m. Monday at Shady Grove C.M.E. Church in the Shady Grove Community with the rev. Phil Carter and the Rev. Lonnie Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Jacksonville City Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Home. May Belle Franklin died Thursday in Jacksonville. She was born May 3, 1920, in Rusk. She attended Shady Grove Elementary School and Fred Douglas High School in Jacksonville. She was a member of Shady Grove C.M.E. Church and was a member of the Heroines of Jericho. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Lewis Franklin; son, Larry Franklin; parents; and two brothers. She is survived by sons, Melvin (and Elizabeth) Franklin of Kansas City, Mo., Floyd Franklin of Jacksonville, and Elvin (and Phillis) Franklin of Grand Prairie; grandchildren, Liz A. Bryant, Mark A. Franklin, Floy (and Terri) Franklin, Marlayna E. Franklin, Sterling Franklin and Miles Franklin; brothers, Charles Wagoner of Long Beach, Calif., O.T. Wagoner of Jacksonville and J.C. (and Shirley) Wagoner of Jacksonville; eight great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Goffery Bowens, Travis Thompson, Kelvin Bryant, Charles Wagoner, Sedric Franklin and Joseph Campbell. Honorary pallbearers were stewards of Shady Grove C.M.E. Church.
