OPAL HARPER COOK

Funeral for Opal Harper Cook, 74, of Jacksonville, was at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Autry Funeral Home chapel. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park. Mrs. Cook died May 11. She was born Jan. 10, 1934, in Noonday. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby (Homer) Cook; parents, Charlie Harper and Nancy Lorene Austin Harper; brother, Floyd Edward Harper; and step son, Walter Cook.

Survivors are brothers and sister-in-law, Oscar C. Harper of Jacksonville and Rudy Preston (Freddie Harper) and wife Faye of Arkansas, Aubrey Lee and Sharon Harper of Mexia, Robert Earle and Mary Harper of Jacksonville, James Eddie and Rebecca Harper of Tyler, David Wayne Harper of Jacksonville and Thomas Luther and Brenda Harper of Tyler; a sister Sharon Harper Coates of Jacksonville; four grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Opal Harper Cook, 74, of Jacksonville are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2008 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel, Jacksonville. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, Jacksonville. Mrs. Cook died Sunday, May 11, 2008 in Jacksonville. She was born Jan. 10, 1934 in Noonday. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by husband, Shelby “Homer” Cook; parents Charlie Harper and Nancy Lorene Austin Harper; brother Floyd Edward Harper and step son Walter Cook. She is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Oscar C. Harper, of Jacksonville and Rudy Preston (Freddie Harper) and wife Faye, of Arkansas, Aubrey Lee Harper and wife Sharon, of Mexia, Robert Earle Harper and wife Mary, of Jacksonville, James Eddie Harper and wife Rebecca, of Tyler, David Wayne Harper, of Jacksonville and Thomas Luther Harper and wife Brenda, of Tyler; sister Sharon Harper Coates, of Jacksonville; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many, many friends. Pallbearers are Walter Cook, J. C. Cook, Clay Coates, John Coates, Curtis Harper, Matthew Rowan and Ambrosio Contreras.
