ROOSEVELT (BILL) BIRMINGHAM
Private graveside service for Roosevelt (Bill) Birmingham, 89, of Rusk
was Thursday, May 22. A memorial services was at 10 a.m. Saturday at
Autry Funeral Home chapel.
Mr. Birmingham died May 20. He was born March 31, 1919, in Victoria County to Martin Birmingham and Lucille Deckert Birmingham.
Mr. Birmingham served in the U. S. Army during World War II, trained soldiers at Camp Fannin and served in the South Pacific for 38 months as a gunnery sergeant and received a Bronze Star. He was a ranch hand, former employee of Texas Department of Transportation, Texas Department of Corrections and Custom Coils. He was also a carpenter.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Billy Martin Birmingham.
Survivors are his wife Rose Marie Birmingham of Rusk; a son and two daughters-in-law, Timothy R. and Florence (Fran) Birmingham and Katherine Birmingham, all of Gallatin; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Darlene and Richard Schmidt of San Antonio; a brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Dorothy Birmingham of Inez; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
