Velma Allen

Mrs. Velma Allen of Houston, formerly of Jacksonville, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2007.

She was a teacher for many years at West Side Elementary and Jacksonville Junior High School and was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville.

She was born September 27, 1906 in Mexia, Texas to W. H. and Mary Wallace, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George C. Allen, a long time employee of Southwestern Electric Service Co. and 10 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son, George C. Allen, Jr. of Houston, several nieces and nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 3:30 PM Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Houston, Dr. Tom Pace officiating with burial at Forest Park West cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Bayou Manor Resident's Assistance Fund, 4141 S. Braeswood Blvd, Houston, Texas 77025.
