WILLIE LOUISE WINSHIP

Funeral for Willie Louise Winship, 89, of Jacksonville, was at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church at Karnes City with the Rev. Charles Gibbs officiating. Burial was in Karnes City Cemetery.

Mrs. Winship died Aug. 25. She was born June 26, 1919, in Jacksonville to William Horatio Lane and Nina Vanorden Little Lane.

She was a housewife and a Presbyterian. She married George R. Winship Sr. June 5, 1941, in Karnes City. She was an amateur radio operator and a 1937 graduate of Karnes City High School.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; and daughter, Linda Green.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, George Jr. and Nan Winship of Gallatin; son-in-law Ron Green of Rockdale; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Chris Green, Ronnie Green, Jeremy Duree, Nathan Winship, Andrew Winship and Kevin Longoria. Arrangements were under the direction of Rhodes Funeral Home of Karnes City.

Willie Louise Winship, 89, of Jacksonville, passed away Aug. 25, 2008. She was born June 26, 1919 in Jacksonville to William Horatio Lane and Nina Vanorden Little Lane. Willie Louise was a homemaker and a Presbyterian by faith. She married George R. Winship Sr. on June 5, 1941 in Karnes City. She was an amateur radio operator, loved sewing and gardening, and especially loved being with her grandchildren. She was a 1937 graduate of Karnes City High School. Her survivor’s include her son George Winship Jr. and his wife Nan of Gallatin; son-in-law Ron Green of Rockdale; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter Linda Green. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday Aug. 29, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church in Karnes City, followed by interment in the Karnes City Cemetery. The Funeral services will be officiated by Rev. Charles Gibbs. Serving as pallbearers are Chris Green, Ronnie Green, Jeremy Duree, Nathan Winship, Andrew Winship and Kevin Longoria.
