Robert Paul Westbrook
Funeral services for Robert Paul Westbrook, 41, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Rick Williams officiating. A eulogy will be given by Allen Ross. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery. Mr. Westbrook was born Oct. 4, 1966 in Amarillo, to Linda (Pope) and Roy Lee Westbrook, and died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 in a local hospital. A former resident of Jacksonville, Mr. Westbrook had resided in Lufkin for three years. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Sergeant at the time he was honorably discharged. Mr. Westbrook worked for Woodland Heights Hospital for more than six years as a licensed vocational nurse, and had recently started working for Bethany Home Health. He enjoyed the nursing profession, and loved riding motorcycles, playing golf and spending time with his family. Mr. Westbrook was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include his wife, Ann Westbrook of Lufkin; sons, Steven Westbrook, currently attending the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York and Michael Westbrook, currently serving in the U.S. Army, stationed in Huntsville, Ala.; daughters, Allie Westbrook and Emily Westbrook, both of Jacksonville; stepsons, Colby Moreland, currently serving in the U.S. Army, stationed in Graff, Germany, Wesley Moreland and Arnulfo “Nufie” Cuevas, both of Lufkin; grandfather, R.L. Westbrook of Jacksonville; sister and brother-in-law, Dianna and Bill Matlock of Hallettsville; niece and nephews, Shannon, Will and Josh Mettlach; aunts and uncles, Cinda and Kennith Ross and Kent and Becky Westbrook, all of Jacksonville; and numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Modelle Westbrook; and uncle, Rodney Westbrook. Pallbearers will be Steven Westbrook, Michael Westbrook, Colby Moreland, Wesley Moreland, Josh Mettlach and Allen Ross. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1125 Judson Road #150, Longview, Texas 75601 or the American Cancer Society, 212 Gene Samford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
