Funeral Services for Mrs. Jane Underwood, 78, of Jacksonville, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville with Rev. Ken Rawson officiating, under the direction of Autry Funeral Home. Burial will be at Union Grove Cemetery near Maydelle. Mrs. Underwood died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008 in Jacksonville. She was born Friday, Oct. 25, 1929 in Jacksonville. Mrs. Underwood was employed at Irving Independent School District as a maintenance supervisor for 16 years and was a Dallas area resident for 50 years. She was a member of the Hampton Place Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Davis and Gladys Warren Davis; husband Elmer Underwood; daughter Shirley Whitten; sisters Gladys George and Imola Lovelady; and granddaughter Debra Lindsey. Mrs. Underwood is survived by her son David Underwood of Grand Prairie; four grandchildren, Michael Underwood and wife Tracy, Chris Lindsey, Tammy Whitten, Cassie Underwood; great-grandchildren Mikal Whitten, Matthew Whitten, Nickolas Whitten and Laura Whitten; two sisters, Joy Bettis and Mary Reynolds both of Jacksonville. Pallbearers include Chris Lindsey, Olen Phillips, Michael Whitten, David Reynolds, Bill Lovelady and Ed Snider. Honorary pallbearer is Ralph George. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2008 at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
