"SHACK" SHACKELFORD
Funeral for N.E. (Shack) Shackelford, 84, of Mixon, was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, at the Mixon First Baptist Church with John Cole and Rev. Joe Ballard officiating. Burial was in the Mixon Cemetery.
Mr. Shackelford died Dec. 22. He was born May 5, 1924, in Cherokee County.
He was employed at AMOCO as a regional drilling superintendent in the petroleum industry for more than 40 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mixon and served with the Army during World War II and as a Sergeant. Mr. Shackelford fought in five theaters and every major battle in Europe.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Hixson Shackelford; father, Clyde T. Shackelford; mother, Alice Cleo Musick Shackelford; and brother, Clarence Travis Shackelford.
Survivors are three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Raymond and Pamela Shackelford of Anchorage, Alaska, Jeff Riley and Debra Shackelford of New Iberia, La. and John Clyde and Christina J. Shackelford of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; two brothers and a sister-in-law, C.T. Jr. and Jeanette Shackelford of Mixon and Donald F. Shackelford of Kingsville; three grandsons, Joel T. Shackelford, Robert Shackelford and Justin Riley Shackelford; three granddaughters, Holly Virginia Shackelford, Amy L. Shackelford and husband Jesse Lipcius and Amanda Marie Shackelford and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Todd Shackelford, Tim Shackelford, Blaine Shackelford, Justin Shackelford, Mike Gajewski and Tommy Shackelford.
Autry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
