JAMES TRAVIS SESSIONS

Funeral for James Travis Sessions, 78, of Houston, was held Friday, May 16, at the Houston First Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur Craig officiating. Burial was at Atoy Cemetery. Mr. Sessions was born in Alto on Sept. 29, 1929, to the late D. M. (Rhide) Sessions and Ida Sessions and died Sunday, May 11. He attended Texas State School for the Deaf in Austin. He was an active and faithful deacon at Houston's First Baptist Church and Woodhaven Baptist Deaf Church, being involved in the deaf ministry for many years.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Sessions, and a brother, Rudolph Sessions.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Gertrude; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ron and Donna and Dennis and Cara, all of Houston and Alan of Austin; six grandchildren; four sisters, Fatha Brogan, Shirley Franklin, Mary Franklin and Virginia Sessions; two brothers, Joe Sessions and Billy Sessions; and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were under the direction of Vazquez Funeral Home.
