EMORY POPE

 

Funeral for Emory Pope, 60 of Alto was at 1 p.m. Friday at the Weeping Mary Baptist Church near Alto. Burial was in St. Thomas Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Pope died Nov. 24. He was born Feb. 1, 1948, in Alto to Adde and Annie Laura Ross Pope. He lived most of his life in Alto and was a member of the Weeping Mary Baptist Church. He worked at the Indian Mound Nursery, sold produce for Lindsey's Grocery and was a former member of the Alto Trail Riders.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two sisters; and six brothers. Survivors are two sons and daughters-in law, Jamie and Denise Pope of Alto and Patrick and Beth Pope of Rusk; a daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Bruce Bradley of Rusk; three stepsons, Chad Pope and Antron Pope, both of Alto and Cordell Green of Livingston; three step-daughters, Angel Pope of Alto and Shauntania Green and Tamara Green, both of Livingston; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Zachius (Jack) and Alberta Pope and J.T. Pope, all of Alto; four sisters, Essie B. Pope, Ardie D. Thacker, Addie H. Pope and Zeffie P. Mumphey, all of Alto; 11 grandchildren; and special friend, Wilma Wells of Alto.
