JAMES CARLOS MURPHY

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. today at Colonial Hills United Methodist Church in San Antonio for James Carlos Murphy. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6. at the Harrison Armstrong Cemetery in Alto.

Mr. Murphy died Aug. 30. He was born in Corrigan Oct. 23, 1921, to G.W. and Norella Power Murphy. Mr. Murphy graduated from Alto High School in 1939 and the University of Texas in 1949 and became a CPA.

He served as first sergeant in the Corps of Engineers in World War II. He worked in the building products and floor covering industry. He retired in 1991 as vice-president of marketing for the Azrock Co. in San Antonio. He was a member of Colonial Hills United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife Virginia Harrison Murphy, two sons, Michael Clinton Murphy and wife Donna; James Randolph Murphy and partner Eric Cogswell; and grandson Zachariah Murphy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Colonial Hills United Methodist Church, 5247 Vance Jackson, San Antonio, 78230. No visitation is planned. O.T.
