Funeral services for David Mitchell, 42, of Rusk
are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008 in First Church On The
Hill in Rusk with Rev. Jan Pate and Mike Boney officiating. Interment
will be in Russell Cemetery on FM 23 under the direction of
Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk.
Mr. Mitchell died Jan. 23, 2008 at his residence. He was born May 15,
1965 in Irving, to William Clark and Marion Frances Smelley Mitchell.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 25, 2008 at the
funeral home. If desired, memorials may be made to Austin Bank, 401 N.

Funeral for David Mitchell, 42, of Rusk was at 2 p.m. Saturday at the

Mr. Mitchell died Jan. 23. He was born May 15, 1965, in Irving to William Clark and Marion Frances Smelley Mitchell. He was a resident of Rusk for 35 years and formerly resided in Lampasas. He was Christian. He was employed by Texas Department of Criminal Justice for eight years as a correctional officer. He was also employed at Houston County Sheriff's Office for three years. He was also an artist. His father, William Clark Mitchell, preceded him in death in 1990.
Survivors are his wife Julie Mitchell of Rusk; two daughters, Brittany Mitchell and Shelby Mitchell, both of Rusk; his mother, Fran Mitchell of Rusk; three brothers, Gary Mitchell of Jefferson and Scott Wilson and Cory Mitchell, both of Rusk; five sisters, LeeAnn McIntyre of Palestine, Gina West of Macon, Ga., Cherie Garza of Jal, N.M., Keli Abuhasheesh of Wylie and Connie Baker of Powell; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Pallbearers were William Halstead, Scott Wilson, Charlie Rigsby, Terry Joe Phillips, Joe Bixler and Steve Robertson. Honorary pallbearers were Cory Mitchell, Gary Mitchell, Khaled Abuhasheesh, and Zach McCalister. Memorials may be made to Austin Bank, 401 N. Main, Rusk 75785, or Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd. Tyler 75701. Arrangements were under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk
