ELIZABETH CLYNE (BETH) MCKNIGHT
Funeral for Elizabeth Clyne (Beth) McKnight, 96, of Jacksonville, was at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Autry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Fred Lang officiating. Burial was in Jarratt Cemetery.
Mrs. McKnight died Feb. 16. She was born Feb. 7, 1912, in Jacksonville to the late Ellie U. Smith and Elizabeth Tankersley Smith. She graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1929, and married Rayburn E. McKnight on Dec. 23, 1930. She is descended from the pioneer families of Jobie Tankersley and Stephen Upson Smith, who settled in Cherokee County in 1853.
She was a Baptist and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Preceding her in death were her husband in 1985; her parents; a sister, Eloise Smith McKnight; her brothers, Eldred Smith, J.R. Smith and Stanley Smith.
Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly Jean and Dr. Floyd (Bill) Beranek of Jacksonville; a brother, Russell U. Smith of Houston; grandchildren, Kathleen Beranek, Scott Beranek and Dawn Bauer and husband Bart Bauer, all of Jacksonville and Dan Beranek of Burleson and; three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Norman Smith, Alan Smith, Dan Beranek, Bart Bauer, Jimmy Tankersley, Bobby Liles, David Smith, Jobie Smith and Keith McKnight.
