Funeral for Dorothy Faye McDaniel, 79, of LaPorte, formerly of Alto will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. James Littlefield officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.
Mrs. McDaniel died Monday. She was born April 3, 1929, in Houston to John and Bertha Cannon Smith. She lived in Alto for many years and also in Pasadena. She was a 1947 Alto High School graduate and attended Stephen F. Austin University. She was a homemaker and worked at Rusk State Hospital as a nurses aide. She was a painter, a member of the Alto Pentecostal Church and Victory Tabernacle Church in LaPorte.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Douglas McDaniel; and sons, John Robert McDaniel, Douglas (Bubba) McDaniel and Ricky McDaniel; and grandchildren, Ryan McDaniel and Patricia McDaniel.
Survivors are three daughters and a son-in-law, Faye and Tim Bihm of Eunice, La., Mary Nell and Jerry Erne of LaPorte and Linda Chamberlain of Pasadena; a son and daughter, Eddie and Shelly McDaniel of League City; two brothers, John Bill Smith of Houston and Douglass (Mac) Smith of Galveston; two sisters, Anola French of Houston and Mary Grace Allen of Nacogdoches; 11 grandchildren, Melissa, Jennifer, Tina, Ski, Kerensa, Kathy, Kasha, Masha, Doug, Brandon and Breeann; 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Victory Tabernacle Church in LaPorte and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at O.T. Allen & Son Funeral Home in Alto.
