Funeral for Alma Bernice Crews Gambrel will be held in Joliet, Ill. Mrs. Gambrel died Feb. 3 in Plainfield. She was born in Hubbard, Texas and graduated from Rusk High School.
Mrs. Gambrel had resided in Joliet since 1945. She was employed as a legal secretary for many years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church for 64 years.
Preceding her in death were her grandson, Alex Hart; her parents, John and Eva Lee Crews; and four brothers, Lowell, John Woodrow, Joe Morris and Chester Crews.
Survivors are two sons, Paul Gambrel of Austin and Roger Gambrel of Joliet; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and James Hart of Joliet; three grandsons, Brett Gambrel and Justin and Nicholas Hart; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Georgia and Jesse Doughty of Mabank, Helen and Jerry Grimes of Gallatin and Winnie and David Tate of Waco; two sisters-in-law, Ramona Crews and Kitty Crews; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Central Presbyterian Church in Joliet.
