Memorial service for John Melvin Elliott, 81, of Jacksonville was at 4 p.m. Friday at St. John's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patrick Papp officiating.
Mr. Elliott died Nov. 18, 2008 in Tyler. He was born March 3, 1927, in Tyler to Eugene Elliott and Cora Sloan Elliott. Mr. Elliott was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and was a retired supervisor for Reynolds & Land.
He was organizer and past president of Ramblin Rose Square Dance Club in Tyler and member of Jacksonville Jacks & Jills Square Dance Club.
Survivors include wife, Frances Elliott of Jacksonville; a son, Gene Elliott and his fiancée, Sonya of Mineola; three daughters, Becky Richardson and husband Randy Russell of Mineola, Rachael Hubbard of Quitman, and Susan L. Jones and husband David M. of Rusk; sons-in law, Roger Elliott of Chandler and Kelly D. Evans and wife, Sharon of Elkhart; two sisters, Mariam Ruth Sellers and husband Doug of Lawn and Esther Speck of Friendswood; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church memorial fund, 2020 Beaumont St., Jacksonville 75766.
Arrangements were under the direction of Autry Funeral Home.
