REV. BENJAMIN FRANKLIN DAVIS JR.

 

Funeral for the Rev. Benjamin Franklin Davis Jr., 69, of Frankston was at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Sweet Union Baptist Church in Jacksonville with Bishop James Berry, Rev. W.D. Brown, Rev. Richard Williams officiating. Burial was in Rest Land Cemetery at Cuney.Rev. Davis died Feb. 5. He was born Sept. 3, 1939, in Dawson. He attended Neches public school and graduated from Cuney High School and Bishop College in Dallas. He was pastor of the Cornerstone Baptist Church. He had served in the ministry for 28 years. He was employed for several years by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services and also was a building contractor.

Survivors are his wife, Betty Davis of Frankston; three sons, Rodney Claybon of Jacksonville, Freddie Sanders of Iowa Park and Mathew Davis of Rusk; two step-sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Toni Davis of Murray, Ky. and Mathais Davis of Rusk; a daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Harvey Summers of Jacksonville; a step-daughter, Leslie Mayes of Frankston; two sisters, Kitty Ruth Burrell of Jacksonville and Elsie Campbell of Los Angeles, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Willie Clayborne, Mike Aldridge, Mathais Davis, Kurt Aldridge, Jerry Aldridge and Micheal Aldridge. Williams Funeral Home was in charge.
