Fred Baxter Ragsdale Jr
Services for Fred Baxter Ragsdale Jr. 86, of Jacksonville will be at
2 p.m., Thursday at Earle’s Chapel Church with the Rev. Charles Nunnally
officiating, under the direction of Boren-Conner Funeral Home in
Jacksonville.
Burial will be at Earle’s Chapel Cemetery with Masonic and military
honors.
Mr. Ragsdale died Monday, March 5, 2007, at a local hospital. He was
born Dec. 30, 1920, in Jacksonville. He was a life-long Jacksonville
resident. Parents were Fred Baxter Ragsdale Sr. and Irvie Cavanaugh
Ragsdale. He was a Methodist and a 60-year accountant with Texas Basket
Co. (formerly Newton-Shank). He was a caretaker for Earle’s Chapel
Cemetery for many, many years. He was a Mason, York Rite and Scottish
Rite member. He was a WWII Army Air Corp. veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle McLendon Ragsdale and
brother Wendell Ragsdale.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Suzy and Jeff Vanlandingham
of Perryton; two grandchildren, Chelsea Gail and Joseph Collin
Vanlandingham of Perryton; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers include Pat Jacobs, Brad Blankenship, John Ragsdale and Alan
Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers include Randy Ragsdale, Kenneth Smith, Ronnie Lee,
Hulon Brown, Pete Pavletich and Paul Pavletich.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., today, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or to the
Earle’s Chapel Cemetery Association.
