Edwin Earl Pledger
Services for Edwin Earl Pledger, 89, of Houston, went to be with the Lord on
Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007.
Mr. Pledger was born April 14, 1917, in Jacksonville, Texas to James Oliver Earl
Pledger and Mary Melvin Ragsdale Pledger. He served his country faithfully
during World War II in the Merchant Marine Corp. Mr. Pledger attended Lon Morris
Junior College in Jacksonville, Texas and the University of Texas. He married
the former Almeta Carter on Nov. 8, 1941, and she preceded him in death on May
5, 2003. Mr. Pledger worked for Sun Oil for 35 years as a Acquisition
Geophysicist. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Earle’s Chapel
United Methodist Church Cemetery Association, where he served as Treasurer.
His survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Ann Bridges; two sons, Robert Pledger
and his wife Dorothy, and Timothy C. Pledger; two granddaughters, Jennifer
Elaine Pledger Zackary, and Amy Bridges; and four great grandchildren, Katherine
Zackary, Ethridge Zackary, Madison Bridges, and Nathan Bridges.
Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from 6 until 8 p.m.
Wednesday, February 14, 2007, at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800
Westheimer Road. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, Feb.
15, 2007, at Earle’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, Texas.
Interment will follow in Earle’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, in
Jacksonville, Texas.
In lieu flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the
Earle’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, P. O. Box 602, Jacksonville,
Texas 75766.
