Berryman Pete Pavletich 10/17/1917 -4/5/2007

“PETE”PAVLETICH died April 5, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Memorial services will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1000 S Jackson at 2PM Monday, April 9 with Father Rob Godwin presiding. Burial will follow in Still Waters Memorial Gardens.

Born October 17, 1917 in Alto, Texas, the 2nd son of four to P.J. and Annie Treadwell Pavletich, he grew up in New Salem and Jacksonville, graduating from JHS and attending Lon Morris College. On June 8, 1939 he married Virginia Ramelle Taylor and they had two children; Pam and Paul. He entered the U.S. Navy, January 1, 1945, ranking as a Seaman 1st Class, where he instructed pilots in simulated flights in the Link Trainer, and later was a flight instructor at the Naval Training School operated at the Municipal Airport.

Pete first worked for his father at the Pavletich Auto Supply. After his discharge from the Navy he opened GI Trade Schools. In 1951 he became partners in a lumber Company that was in operation for 27 years. In 1980 he started Pete Pavletich Company which is still in operation today.

He enjoyed his winters snow skiing and summers at the lake and his mornings at what he called “The Breakfast Club”, he was a 32nd degree Mason.

Pete loved people and if he didn’t know you, he would after 5 minutes of speaking of know someone who knew you.

Preceded in death by his daughter, Pam Esteve, granddaughter Devon Lin Burton and brothers; Jack Paul & Yacob Pavletich.

Survivors include; wife of 67 years, Ramelle Pavletich, Jacksonville, son & daughter-in-law, Paul & Beckie Pavletich, Jacksonville, grandchildren; Corey Pavletich, Austin, Gretchen Pavletich, Jacksonville & SuZan Young, Houston; three great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Brother & sister in-law: Philip & Carolyn Frances Pavletich, Jacksonville.

Honorary Pallbearers are Clay Carter, Hulon Brown, Max Treadwell, Tommy Dan Treadwell, Bill McCarter and Wayne Hammons.
