Jewell Thelma Jenkins
Services for Jewell Thelma Jenkins, 101, of Jacksonville, will be at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, with Ben Dan Thompson
and Shawn Montandon officiating under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in
Jacksonville.
Burial will be at Henry Cemetery in Gallatin.
Mrs. Jenkins died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, at a Jacksonville nursing home. She
was born July 17, 1905, in Anderson County.
She was a homemaker, seamstress, artist and writer. She was a member of Mount
Selman Church of Christ. She was married to Edgar Jenkins, and he preceded her
in death. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Alphis Cotton, Raymond
Cotton and Ottis Cotton and her sisters, Letha Jenkins, Eleanor Johnson, Jessie
Dement, Ila Harper and Loneta Philen.
Survivors include her daughters, Delores Northen of Jacksonville and Doretha
Thompson and husband, Ben Dan, of Whitehouse; brother, Douglas Cotton and wife,
Betty, of Jacksonville; sister, Jean Allen and husband, Raye, of Jacksonville;
10 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 22 great great grandchildren; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include Danny Thompson, Terry Sarters, Ben Alexander, Brent Allison,
Todd Larson and Michael Ruby.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
