Jimmy Lee Campbell
Graveside services for Jimmy Lee Campbell age 57, of Rusk will be at 1 p.m.,
Friday at Roselawn Park with Dr. Barry Roberts officiating. Arrangements are
under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
Mr. Campbell died Sunday in Rusk. He was born Sept. 24, 1949, in Abilene to
Grady Lee Campbell and Christine Bibb Sutherland. He served in the US Navy where
he was a 1st Class Petty Officer and served in the US Army in Viet Nam and was a
member of the Wells Masonic Lodge No. 915. Mr. Campbell was also the founder and
member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp No. 2009. He served as a former
police officer and as a sheriff’s deputy.
Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by his mother Christine Sutherland, his wife
Joanne Long Campbell, and a sister Christine Sue Rodgers. He is survived by his
father Grady Lee Campbell of Abilene, daughter Jamie Christine Larison of
Overland Park, KS., step daughter Cindy Sherman and husband Danny of Oakwood,
step son Harold “Butch” Shank and wife Gayle of Fort Worth, brother Larry Lee
Campbell and wife Eileen of San Marcus, two grandchildren Patrick Dennis Young
and Ashlyn Perry Larison five step grandchildren.
Rather than mourn the absence of the flame, let us celebrate how brightly it
glowed.
