JUDY BRUNSON
Funeral for Judy Marie Brunson, 58, of Carrollton was at 10 a.m. Feb. 14 at the Parker First Baptist Church with Edward Cook and Hal Brunson officiating. A graveside service was at 4:30 p.m. at Still Waters Memorial Garden, Jacksonville with Dr. Charley Holmes officiating.
Mrs. Brunson, 58, died Feb. 11, after a nine-year battle with ovarian cancer. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Hal Brunson; two sons, Trey Brunson, of Durango, Colo. and Dr. Matt Brunson of Dallas; two sisters, Jeannette Wolfe and Nelma Owen; and three brothers, Marlin, Richard and Tom Gibson. A retired teacher and administrator, Mrs. Brunson held the Master of Reading, Summa Cum Laude, her doctoral studies abbreviated by sickness. She was a member of Alpha Delta Gamma, "an international honorary organization of women educators dedicated to educational excellence, altruism and world understanding." She was also a charter member and the original pianist of First Baptist Church, Parker.
After her father's death when Mrs. Brunson was three years old, her mother, Mollie remained unmarried and, with meager means, reared her family of small children. A scholarship has been established to assist single Christian mothers send their children to a private Christian school. Memorials may be made to the Judy Brunson Memorial Scholarship, in care of Trinity Christian Academy, 17001 Addison Road, Addison 75001.
