HERBERT C. "HUB" BRIDGES

 

Services for Herbert C. "Hub" Bridges, 95, of Arlington, formerly of Tyler, were at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home in Tyler with the Rev. Jerry D. Hawbaker officiating.

Burial will be at Williams Cemetery in New Chapel Hill.

Mr. Bridges died Jan. 7 in Arlington. He was born June 20, 1913 in Ironton to Robert Ingram Bridges and Mary Etta Warren Bridges.

He worked as a plumber for the Cotton Belt Railroad for 42 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tyler as well of the Kiwanis Club, the Brotherhood of Maintenance and Way Railroad Union of Tyler and the Odd Fellows and Rebeccas Lodge of Tyler.

Mr. Bridges was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Yancy Bridges; a brother, Willis W. Bridges and a sister, Elma Woodland.

Survivors include a sister, Mattie Belle Mauritzen of Tyler; sons and daughters-in-law William and Linda Bridges of Houston and Charles and Linda Bridges of Arlington; five grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren: Amy Bridges Hurst and her son, Trent, of League City; Michael and Lisa Bridges and their daughter, Taylor, of San Anselmo, Calif.; Stephen Bridges of Houston; Ron and Tara Bridges Lewis and son Sean of Arlington and Chad Bridges of Arlington; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
