Frances Leona Crim Whitfield
Frances Leona Crim Whitfield, 87, of Van Alstyne, formerly of Jacksonville, passed away June 28, 2008 at Meadowbrook Care Center in Van Alstyne. She was born Nov.16, 1920, in McKinney, the daughter of Julius and Minnie Lee (York) Samples. She married J. B. Crim in 1939 in Sherman. He preceded her in death in December 2004. She married Tommy Whitfield in February 2007, at Meadowbrook Care Center. Frances was a homemaker and member of East Lake Baptist Church in Bullard. After entering Meadowbrook Care Center in 2005, she became active in the Red Hat Ladies Society, led the Sittercize Group, was elected resident of the month and Valentine Queen, and participated in church services, bingo, and many other activities. She is survived by her husband, Tommy; sons and daughters-in-law, Grover Carrell and Peggy Crim of Anna, Don and Lana Crim of Van Alstyne, and James and Betty Crim of Jacksonville; grandchildren and their spouses James Carrell and Rosa Crim, Kelly Crim, David and Dennie Crim, Shanna and Greg Scott, Jeffrey and Brandi Crim, Kevin and Wendy Crim, and Janna and Michael McMahon; 11 great-grandchildren including Meghan Crim Pike of Jacksonville, and one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with the Rev. Jim Poole officiating. Interment followed at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
