  ROY TURNER WALKER, JR.

Funeral for Roy Turner Walke, 84, of Mixon was at 2 p.m. Sunday in Autry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. James Duncan and the Rev. Jason Dreskell officiating. Burial was in Earle's Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Walker died June 19. He was born in Houston April 21, 1924. Mr. Walker was a member of the Mixon Missionary Baptist Church and served as the Assistant treasurer. He was an employee of the Goodyear Tire Company.

He served in the Navy, on the USS Navajo during World War II as a 2nd class petty officer. His ship was torpedoed and sunk in 1943, Mr. Walker was rescued seven days later and was subsequently in a Naval Hospital for nine months

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Cecelia Walker; wife Louise Walker; brother, Carl Walker; and sister, Dorothy Cromwell.

Survivors are his wife Anne Slider-Walker of Mixon; four sons and daughters-in-law, Eual and Linda Walker, of Asworth, Ga., Jerry and Dee- Ann Walker of Canton and Stephen and Carla Slider and Kenneth and R.J. Slider, all of Mixon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharrai and Harold Brooks, Freeport and Kathy and Charles Fason of Tyler; and a sister-in-law Edna Walker, Mineola; grandchildren; Chad Walker, T.R. Walker, Angie Smoot, Justin Walker, Amanda Sewell, Shane Sewell, Melissa Fason, Michelle Fason, Tiffany Slider, Tara Slider, Lea' Getro, Sarah Sturdivant; great-grand children; Nathan Cason, Alyssia White, Amy White, Jada Smoot, Kobe Smoot, Damon Walker, Madison Walker, Jacob Walker and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Marvin Hughes, Bill Roberts, Robert Cooper, Gary Kirby, Gordon Wall and Blake Sewell.
