OPAL HENDRICK

Funeral for Opal Hendrick, 89, of Rusk was at 10 a.m. Friday in the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Don Copeland and Troy Dagle officiating. Burial was in Russell Cemetery, FM 23.

Mrs. Hendrick died June 24. She was born April 28, 1919 in Rusk to the late Joe Ellie and Minnie Maude Smith Hugghins. Mrs. Hendrick was a life-long Rusk and Bulah community resident. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Rusk Garden Club. She was a homemaker.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Carvel Leland Hendrick on Dec. 4, 1984; a brother, Calvin Hugghins; two sisters, Ruby Burchfield and Lillian Gardiner. Survivors are two daughters and sonsin law, Charlotte and Wayne Burchfield of Alba and Brenda and Jim Netters of Rusk; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe Truman and Trudy Hugghins of Houston; three sisters, Jewel Eberhardt of Pearland, Merle Thornhill of Dallas and Mary Harris of Rusk; a brother in law, Alvin Burchfield of Rusk; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Clay Dixon, James Ferguson, David Burchfield, Mike Cowan, Erik Neilsen and Jimmy Crist. Memorials may be made to Birmingham Health Care, 2205 E.
