ELVA TROY (BUBBA) GRIFFIN

Funeral for Elva Troy (Bubba) Griffin, 64, of Alto will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Union Hill Baptist Church at Alto with the Rev. Ike Wiley and the Rev. Lionel Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Griffin died July 26. He was born Dec. 31, 1943, in Alto to Morris and Samantha Brown Griffin. He lived most of his life in Alto and was a member and deacon at Union Hill Baptist Church. He owned and operated Troy's Paint & Body Shop in Alto for 35 years. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and received an associate degree in criminal justice from Trinity Valley Junior College.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Griffin; a son, Shelton Griffin; a daughter, Debbie Griffin; and a brother, Marvin Griffin.

Survivors are two daughters and sons-in-law, Blondria D. Griffin and Felton Mumphrey of Alto and Pamela and Michael Mumphrey of Rusk; a son and daughter-in-law, Kerry W. and Regina Griffin of Nacogdoches; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Edward and Mary Griffin of Fort Worth, Donnie Griffin of Alto and Tommy and Brenda Griffin of Longview; a sister, Maxine Marshall of Shreveport, La.; four grandchildren, Malcolm Mumphrey, Michael Mumphrey Jr., Emmanuel Griffin and Ambriana Griffin; special niece, Sandra Brantley of Whitehouse; and special cousin, Jerry Brown of Las Vegas, Nev.

Grandsons and family members were pallbearers.
