WANDA SUE DIRDEN
Funeral for Wanda Sue Dirden, 65, of Jacksonville was at 1 p.m. Thursday
at the Sweet Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Horace Williams, the
Rev. Claudell Anderson and the Rev. Julia Session officiating. Burial
was in Jacksonville City Cemetery. Ms. Dirden died March 3. She was born
June 30, 1942, in Jacksonville. She graduated from Fred Douglas High
School in 1960, and was a member of Sweet Union Baptist Church. She
retired from Drom Trane.
Her parents, D. Meador and Lucille Dirden preceded her in death. Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen C. and Theresa Dirden of Pomona, Calif.; two daughters, Stacey Thirkill of Jacksonville and Demetra Lacy of Flint; two brothers, Jerry Lacy of Houston and Chester Lacy Sr. of Jacksonville; four sisters, Lucy Lacy of Houston, Jackalyne Ross and Phebe Lacy of Jacksonville and Gayla Lacy of Misawa, Japan; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Richard Whitaker, Roderick Erwin, Clynell Anderson, Billy J. Williams Sr., George Horn, Claude Armstrong, Maharold Peoples, Christopher Dirden and Jerry Lacy. Honorary pallbearers were deacons and trustee of the Sweet Union Baptist Church and Rickey Meador.

Funeral services for Wanda Sue Dirden, 65, of Jacksonville, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008 in Sweet Union Baptist Church with Rev. Horace Williams, Rev. Claudell Anderson and Rev. Julia Session officiating. Burial will be in Jacksonville City Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Home. Mrs. Dirden died Saturday, March 1, 2008 in Jacksonville. She was born June 30, 1942 in Jacksonville. She graduated with the Jacksonville High School class of 1960 and was a lifelong Jacksonville resident. She was also an active participant in Sweet Union Baptist Church and was retired from Trane. She is preceded in death by her parents, D. Meador and Lucile Dirden. Survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, Stepheny C. and Theresa Dirden, of Pomona, Ca.; daughters Stacey Thirkill, of Jacksonville and Demetra Lacy of Flint; brothers Jerry Lacy of Houston and Chester Lacy, Sr., of Jacksonville; sisters, Lucy Lacy of Houston, Jackalyne Ross and Phebe Lacy of Jacksonville and Gayla Lacy, of Misawa, Japan; and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Richard Whitaker, Roderick Erwin, Clynell Anderson, Billy J. Williams, Sr., George Horn, Claude Armstrong, Maharold Peoples, Christopher Dirden and Jerry Lacy.
