Funeral for Maurice Cameron, 83, of Jacksonville was at 10 a.m. Friday
at Autry Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Hank Chandler officiating.
Burial was in McDonald Cemetery.
Mr. Cameron died July 22. He was born April 26, 1925 in Griffin. He served with the Navy during WW II and was in the Pacific Theater. He was a Baptist and was employed as a carpenter and a home builder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Cameron and Belle Pool Cameron; four brothers, Alton Cameron, Estell Cameron, Howard Cameron and Esco Cameron; three sisters, Gladys Wesley, Bernice Smith and Mildred Cameron; and one granddaughter, Tiffani Stanley.
Survivors are his twin sister, Maurine Cross; son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Susan Cameron of Garland three daughters and sons-in law, Connie and Paul Aday of The Woodlands, Brenda and Brent Stahelin of Jacksonville and Elise and Rick Self of McKinney; several grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Paul Aday, Brent Stahelin, Rick Self, Michael Powell, Ben Briley and Chris Cross.

Funeral services for Mr. Maurice Cameron, 83, of Jacksonville are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday July 25, 2008 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with Rev. Hank Chandler officiating. Burial is at McDonald Cemetery, New Summerfield. Mr. Cameron died Tuesday, June 22, 2008 in Tyler. He was born April 26, 1925 in Griffin. Mr. Cameron proudly served with the Navy during WW II and was in the Pacific Theater. He was a Baptist and was employed as a carpenter and a home builder. He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin Cameron and Bell Pool Cameron; brothers Alton Cameron, Estell Cameron, Howard Cameron and Esco Cameron; sisters Gladys Wesley, Bernice Smith and Mildred Cameron; and granddaughter Tiffani Stanley. He is survived by his twin sister Maurine Cross; son Curtis Cameron and wife Susan of Garland; daughters Connie Aday and husband Paul of The Woodlands, Brenda Stahelin and husband Brent of Jacksonville and Elise Self and husband Rick of McKinney; as well as several grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Paul Aday, Brent Stahelin, Rick Self, Michael Powell, Ben Briley and Chris Cross.
