ALMA JEAN WHITELEY

Funeral for Alma Jean Whiteley, 68, of Jacksonville was at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Corbie Grimes, the Rev. Andy Cox and the Rev. Randy Anderson officiating. Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Whiteley died Sept. 28. She was born Oct. 3, 1938, in Lufkin. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Preceding her in death was her husband, Vernon Ray (Zeke) Whiteley.

Survivors are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bobby Joe and Debbie Whiteley of Jacksonville and Vernon Ray Whiteley Jr. of Lufkin; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Tammy and Edward Garner of Tularosa, N.M., Brenda and Carl Lee Roberts and Kelly Berry, of Jacksonville and Sherry Fanning of Lufkin; four brothers and three sisters-inlaw, Johnny and Beverly Gardner, Kenneth and Christine Gardner, Roy Don and Kim Garner, all of Jacksonville and Bill (Butch) Gardner of Dallas; six sisters and two brothersin law, Linda and Ken Bailey, Ann Tillman, Francis Gardner, Betty and Ronnie Halbert, all of Jacksonville, Barbara Wiegman of Mansfield and Penny Simmons of Houston; special friends, Kenneth Whiteley of Kilgore and Goldie and Morris Kirby of Bullard; 20 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Carl Lee Roberts, Tracy Whitaker, Marty Esueta, David Webb, Tony Carlile and Mike Berry. Honorary pallbearers were Junior Kirby, Charles (Buddy) Crittenden, Chase Gardner, F.E. Hassell, Jess Hamilton and Morris Kirby.
