Funeral services for Marcelite Watson, 95, of Oakland, are scheduled
for 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007 in Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home
Chapel with Brother Charles Johnston and Brother Kevin Gentry
officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the
direction Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Rusk.
Mrs. Watson died Aug. 28, 2007 in a Rusk nursing home. She was born Aug.
10, 1912 in Rusk to the late R.E. and Maude “Sherman Bothwell. She was
the fifth of ten children.
The Bothwell family moved to Maydelle when she was 2 years old. She
graduated from Maydelle High School in 1927. Marcelite married Dewey
Jake Watson in 1931. Together they had 6 children, five sons and one
daughter including sons W.E. "Billy" Watson, the late D.J. “Bud” Watson,
J.A. “Jimmy” Watson, Eldon Earl “P.C.” Watson, deceased baby son Larry
Jack Watson, daughter, and Marimaude Meador.
Mrs. Watson worked for three years for Chapman Pharmacy and 10 years for
Rusk State Hospital before retirement. She was a member of Pleasant
Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Maydelle.
She is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, W.E. “Billy” and
Darline Watson of Rusk, “Jimmy” Watson of Maydelle and Eldon Earl “P.C.”
Watson of Oakland; daughter and son-in-law, Marimaude Meador and Forest
Glen of Longview; sisters, Bessie Burke of College Station, Marguerite
Johnston of Jacksonville and Pauline Perry of Rusk; grandchildren, Tony
K. Watson of Loveland, Colorado, Christy Lana Buchinger of Whitehouse,
Rhonda Meador of Longview, Regina Loftis of Longview, Michael “Mike”
Meador of Longview and James Kevin Watson of Jacksonville; great
grandchildren, Leigh Ann Watson of Huntington, April Nicole Torrres of
Huntington, Jonathan Carter Bersano of Whitehouse and Cody Jake Loftis
of Longview; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will include Tony Watson, Mike Meador, Kevin Watson, Jake
Loftis, Dickey Bowman and David Watson. Family will receive friends from
6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Watson was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She died Tuesday, Aug. 28. She was born Aug. 10, 1912, in Rusk to the late R. E. and Maude Sherman Bothwell.
