ROBERT E. LEE THACKER

Funeral for Robert E. Lee Thacker, 74, of Alto, was at 2 p.m. Monday in the Community Fellowship Church with the Rev. Chester Whitaker officiating. Burial was in St. Thomas Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Thacker died Aug. 14. He was born Sept. 1, 1932, in Alto, to Will Herman and Alvina Lemon Thacker. He was a lifelong Alto resident, worked in a sawmill, carpentry and plumbing. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Preceding him in death were his parents and three sons, Nick Pope, Donnie Lofton and Rayford Hamilton.

Survivors are his wife, Ola Thacker of Alto; four sons Lane Pope of Kennard, Rodney Thacker and Keith Thacker of Alto and Steve Lofton of Dallas; five daughters, Clemie Ramsey of Fairfax, Ala., Bennie Mitchell of Jacksonville and Patsy Whitaker, Bernice Milton and Kay Lofton of Alto; two sisters, Ozetta Mitchell of Alto and Dorothy Smith of Oakland, Calif.; a brother, George Thacker of Alto; 30 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. O.T. Allen & Son was in charge of arrangements.

Memorial services for Ruth Anice Boyd Brown, 89, of Tyler formerly of Nederland, was at 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at Atria Willow Park in Tyler.
