Kenneth Ray “Sonny” Oakley

Graveside services for Kenneth Ray “Sonny” Oakley, 76, of Jacksonville will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 7 at Meador Cemetery, Jacksonville, with Rev. George Folmar and Rev. Corbie Grimes officiating.

Services are under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

Mr. Oakley died Saturday, June 2, 2007 at his residence.

He was born February l, 1931 in Fannin County, TX.

He was a tire salesman and a member of the U. S. Air Force for 12 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Buress Oakley and Ida Rose Harris Oakley and brother, James Calvin Oakley.

Mr. Oakley is survived by his wife Jeannie Oakley of Jacksonville, step-sons Marvin George, Jr. and wife, Cathy of Jacksonville, Tony Lynn Alverson of Richmond, daughters Susan Kay Martinez and husband, Oscar, Sr. of Laredo, Sarah Redford of Jacksonville, Carla McNertney and husband, Mac of Frankston and Marsha Jones of Jacksonville; brothers Thomas Oakley and wife, Nancy of Fort Worth; 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation is from 6– 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 6 at Thompson Funeral Home.

Mr. Oakley died June 2. He was born Feb. 1, 1931, in Fannin County. He was a tire salesman and served in the U.S. Air Force for 12 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Buress and Ida Rose Harris Oakley and a brother, James Calvin Oakley.

Survivors are his wife, Jeannie Oakley of Jacksonville; two step-sons and a step-daughter in law, Marvin Jr. and Cathy George of Jacksonville and Tony Lynn Alverson of Richmond, Va.; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Susan Kay and Oscar Sr. Martinez of Laredo, Sarah Redford of Jacksonville Carla and Mac McNertney of Frankston and Marsha Jones of Jacksonville; a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Nancy Oakley of Fort Worth; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
