MARJORIE C. MILLER

Funeral for Marjorie C. Miller, 89, of Rusk was at 10 a.m., Friday, in the Rusk First Presbyterian Church with Rev. David O'Neal officiating. A graveside service was at 2 p.m. Friday at Liberty Hill Cemetery near San Augustine, with the Rev. Dr. Sam Wayman officiating under the direction of Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home.

Ms. Miller died June 25. She was born Feb. 2, 1918, in San Augustine to the late Inlow and Nina Mathews Miller. She was a resident of Rusk for eight years and formerly lived at San Augustine.

She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University. She taught high school English in several schools across Texas.

During World War II she worked for the Navy Department in Washington D.C. She resumed teaching after the war. Her last 18 years of teaching were at Beeville High School.

She joined Memorial Presbyterian Church in San Augustine in the 1920s. She also traveled to various places including Europe.

Survivors are a brother and sister-in-law, Glenn A. and Mamie Miller of Rusk; sisterin law, Betty (Rusty) Miller of Lufkin; four nieces, Molly James, Harriett Buschman, LaDonnna Bailey and Mary Lou Standley, all of Lufkin; six nephews, Kip Miller of Lufkin, Glenn W. Miller of Mesquite, David Miller and Matt Miller, both of Rusk, Don Miller of McCool, Miss., Tom Miller of Lufkin; and two cousins, Jean Lake of San Augustine and Carolyn Epps of Houston.

Pallbearers were Kip Miller, Glenn W. Miller, Keith Bailey, Darrell Windham, Matt Miller and David Miller.
